Impregnation:

What is impregnation?

Impregnation is the process of impregnating the wood structure of various chemicals in various ways. With this procedure, wood is protected from pests such as sea worms, fungus, insects, termites and increased its service life at least 10 times.
Impregnation process depends on wood species, areas of usage and expected service life.
Mainly, there are two usage areas of impregnated wood:
Contact with soil (in-ground wood)
Not contact with soil (above-ground wood)

Our difference:

At AKANTUS we use the modern, safe and environmentally friendly vacuum-pressure treatment process, according to European and World Standards, applying Tanalith E, which has been tested in labs as well as outdoors and proven to be a unique anti-corrosion timber treatment product.
Tanalith E is a next generation timber treatment product that prolongs the life span of your timber.
With its initially striking green colour it offers perfect results for a wide range of timber products.

Vacuum – Pressure Treatment:

The specially designed timber treatment process is undertaken in our Kemal Pasa - Izmir Industrial Estate
using the following steps:

1. Initial vacuum cycle: This process removes the air from the timber cells to increase the absorption of the timber treatment product.

2. Following the vacuum cycle Tanalith E is filled into the treatment cylinder (vessel) and the pressure cycle is applied.

3. The pressure cycle lasts approximately 1hr to 1.5hrs. This is to impregnate the treatment product Tanalith E deeply and permanently into the timber cells.

4. Following the pressure cycle the Tanalith E is emptied out of the treatment cylinder (vessel) and last vacuum cycle begins.

5. Last vacuum cycle: This last vacuum cycle is to remove the excess Tanalith E from the timber and its surface.

Tanalith - E:

Tanalith-E is water based preservative treatments extend the service life of your wood and help maintain its natural appearance.

Tanalith-E pressure treated timber is timber which has been impregnated with Tanalith-E wood preservative under controlled conditions in a vacuum pressure timber impregnation plant.

Tanalith-E is water based wood preservative that contains copper and proven organic biocides. When impregnated into the timber the preservative components bond with the wood structure and cannot easily be removed.

Tanalith-E pressure treated timber has a long term protection against fungal and insect attack, including termites, for both in and out of ground contact, interior and exterior applications when treated to the correct end use specification.

Tanalith-E pressure treated timber has an initial natural green colouration. Upon external exposure, the green color slowly weathers to a warm, honey brown and in the longer term becomes a natural silver grey. This weathering process does not indicate any loss of preservative protection.

Tanalith-E pressure treated timber is also available with built-in water repellent (Tanalith Extra) or built in brown color (TANATONE). With the benefit of water repellent properties, Tanalith Extra pressure treated timber is ideal for outdoor leisure and decorative timbers such as decking, cladding and playground equipment. TANATONE treated timber has a brown coloration as opposed to the traditional Tanalith green. It is ideal for rough sawn timber fencing and landscaping applications.
